Ending Alzheimer’s

Nancy and Will have been very active in the fight against Alzheimer’s after her husband and his father, George Maupin, dealt with the disease. Maupin Medicare works with the local Spokane chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and is a proud corporate sponsor of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The 2026 edition of the Walk will take place Saturday, October 3rd in Riverfront Park. You can find more information on the walk at this link. Registration is encouraged, but not required.

The walk is a great way to help raise awareness for the fight against Alzheimer’s and meet the large community of Spokanites who have personally dealt with the disease, whether they are fighting it themselves or family and friends of someone who is.

With an estimated 7.2 Americans age 65 or over living with Alzheimer’s, that’s roughly one out of every nine Americans of that age group. An additional 6 million are living with another form of dementia.

You can read more about Nancy and George’s story and the importance of early detection and treatment in a profile from the Spokesman-Review here.

We know we are not alone in the fight against Alzheimer’s and dementia, and we want our clients to know that they are not alone either. At Maupin Medicare, we are committed to the fight against Alzheimer’s and dementia, and the goal of eventually putting an end to those devastating diseases.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Maupin Medicare has been a proud sponsor of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s since 2023, which means the upcoming 2026 edition will be our fourth year involved in the organization.

Come down to the Gesa Pavilion (you may know it simply as “The Pavilion”) at Riverfront Park for a morning full of information about Alzheimer’s, resources on living with or caring for someone with the disease, and a strong sense of community for all involved. After the gathering at the Pavilion, a short, roughly one-mile walk along the Centennial Trail follows.

Whether you are living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, caring for someone who is, or simply curious about the resources available, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the place to go for everything you need to know.

Meet with experts in the field, organizations providing resources for those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia and their caretakers, and health industry professionals (like us) who can help you navigate life with the disease.

Join us and many others Saturday, October 3. The event begins at 9 a.m. with the walk taking off at 11 a.m. Scan the QR code on the poster to the left for more information and to register. Registration is encouraged, but not required for those who want to show up and take part.
